KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 – Brunei’s professional football club, DPMM FC, is set to ignite the Malaysian football scene once again with its official return to Liga Malaysia for the 2025–2028 seasons. The participation agreement, signed on 3 June 2025 at Hotel Thistle in Johor Bahru with the Malaysian Football League (MFL), marks DPMM FC’s re-entry into the Super League after last competing in 2008.
This strategic move not only rekindles the historic football ties between Malaysia and Brunei but also reinforces MFL’s commitment to strengthening regional football collaborations under ASEAN unity. MFL President Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan described the inclusion of DPMM FC as a step towards boosting league competitiveness and enriching Malaysia’s football landscape with the club’s professionalism and legacy.
DPMM FC General Manager, Md Ali Haji Momin, echoed this excitement, noting that the challenge ahead will offer valuable experience to players while also energizing Bruneian supporters. With deep historical roots and a passionate fanbase, DPMM FC’s return signals a vibrant and competitive era for Liga Malaysia.
