KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 — Eisai Malaysia has launched LEQEMBI (lecanemab), Malaysia’s first disease-modifying treatment for early Alzheimer’s disease.
Approved by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) in January 2026, the therapy targets amyloid in the brain to slow disease progression rather than only managing symptoms.
Eisai said the breakthrough highlights the importance of early diagnosis as Malaysia’s dementia cases are projected to reach 825,000 by 2050.
