KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 23 – Netizens are in shock after local popular female DJ Leng Yein wrote an emotional post on Facebook today accompanied by pictures of herself looking bruised and bloodied, alleging that this was the result of physical abuse at the hands of an ex-boyfriend alleging that this was the result of physical abuse at the hands of an ex-boyfriend.

The photos, which were uploaded to her official Facebook page today, show her head, hands, face and legs covered in blood. In a lengthy post, Yein claimed that she was physically abused and threats throughout the entire two-year relationship with the man, whom she described as a lawyer that “are close to the police and law”. Yein said she wanted to share her story to prevent other women from falling victim to domestic violence.

“I have nothing to lose anymore. Even if you want to use your lawyer friends or police friends. I will make my voice loud and clear so that I can stop other women from domestic violence that I had to go through,” she said in the post. She claimed that at one point, her boyfriend had even threatened to kill her and her sister, Leng Sean, a local social media influencer.

Yein said she broke up with her boyfriend before undergoing surgery recently. About four hours before her post, the DJ had live-streamed an argument she had with her ex-partner, which lasted for about 10 minutes. The pair were seen yelling at each other before Yein locked herself in the bedroom and broke down in tears.

She had also pleaded to her three million followers on Facebook by updating a status that read “help me”. She told her followers that she was in great distress and claimed that her ex-boyfriend tried to force his way into her room. It is unclear whether the photos of her injuries were taken recently. The pictures which she posted however did not seem to be the latest as the colour of her hair did not match with that in the live-stream video.

In her post, Leng said she had an argument with her ex soon after she arrived in Malaysia after undergoing an emergency surgery in Taiwan for severe allergy. She explained on Facebook that she broke up with her boyfriend before undergoing surgery recently. It was reported that the virus had caused her body to develop pus around her neck and back.

Despite having to undergo surgery, she flew to Macau where she shared the stage with Li Yuchun, Rain, Qian Xue and several Hong Kong singers. She then flew back to Taiwan for a follow-up treatment. She said she returned home to find the man still living there. Leng is regarded as one of Malaysia’s most popular DJs, and has performed gigs in various other countries. Along with a fashion line and various other ventures in the entertainment industry, she was a 2003 Miss Malaysia finalist when she was 18. — PN
