KUCHING, May 25 — Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will reveal positive news for media practitioners during the 2024 National Journalists’ Day (Hawana) celebrations. The three-day event, themed “Etika Teras Kewartawanan Mapan”, begins tomorrow and will culminate on May 27 with the Prime Minister’s announcement. Fahmi shared this update after meeting Sarawak Governor Tun Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
The event will host international media representatives from ASEAN countries, Japan, Kuwait, and more. Highlights include the Hawana 2024 Excursion with Students programme, an exhibition on Sarawak’s media history, and the 2024 Sarawak Media Conference on ‘Evolution of Media in the Digital Era’. The celebrations will also offer participants a cultural tour of Sarawak, ending with a high-tea and dinner reception hosted by the Sarawak Governor.
