KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 – Following the Ulu Tiram police station incident in Johor Baru, the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, announced that five family members of the suspect, who had been recently released after remand, were rearrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) 2012. The decision came after initial investigations revealed the family’s adherence to radical ideology and isolationist behavior.

Razarudin emphasized that the family’s lack of integration into society, coupled with the children’s incomplete education, raised concerns during police inquiries. Additionally, two students initially arrested in connection with the incident have been unconditionally released following extensive investigations that found no links to radical groups. The incident, which occurred last Friday, resulted in the tragic deaths of Constables Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar and Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, with Corporal Mohd Hasif Roslan sustaining injuries.

While the suspect was fatally shot, the police have continued their efforts to ensure security measures at isolated police stations nationwide, including the installation of CCTV cameras and enhanced personnel preparedness.
