GEORGE TOWN, May 25 — Penang Yang Dipertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak has called on the federal government to approve 93 projects worth RM17.1 billion under the 5th rolling plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan. Speaking at the opening of the first meeting of the second term of the 15th state legislative assembly, he highlighted that the state needs RM2.8 billion in allocations for 2025 alone. Ahmad Fuzi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his Madani policies and the significant development allocations already granted to Penang.

Among the major federally funded projects is the Light Rail Transit (LRT), estimated to cost between RM10 billion and RM13 billion. Ahmad Fuzi emphasized the importance of strategic station alignment and environmental considerations in its implementation. He also praised the state for its increased allocation of RM21.48 million to the Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department and highlighted the state’s commitment to tourism, with a 40.2% increase in tourist arrivals in 2023 and the upcoming Penang Hill Cable Car project, set to be completed by 2026.

The south reclamation project to create Silicon Island is expected to generate substantial economic benefits and job opportunities while ensuring fishermen’s welfare and environmental protection.
