The Penang Consumers Association (CAP) regrets the problem of garbage pollution that occurred in Pulau Sayak, Kuala Muda district, Kedah at this time. In this regard, CAP urged the Kuala Muda District Council (MDKM) to conduct an investigation and take immediate action to overcome the problem. In a survey conducted by CAP, it was found that this situation not only involved picnic spots in Kampung Hujung Pulau Sayak but also by the main road in the village.

Waste, especially plastic, is scattered on the side of the road and stranded on the beach area of the village because it is dumped by visitors to this place. Apart from the irresponsible actions of those who dispose of waste at will, the lack of bin facilities are among the causes of the problem. CAP regrets and worries about the incident as it could pollute the environment even more seriously in the future if immediate steps are not taken on the root cause of the problem.

This place may become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and rats if the waste here is left unattended and not cleaned and can affect the health of the public, especially the locals. In addition, the waste can also pollute the sea and affect the fishing activities of coastal fishermen in this village. In addition to the investigation and immediate action that needs to be done by MDKM, continuous monitoring and strict action should be taken against those who commit offenses of polluting the environment in this area. CAP also asked MDKM to put up this warning sign at the scene to prevent irresponsible acts among the public from continuing.
