SUBANG JAYA, July 21 – Taylor’s University, in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW), recently hosted ‘THE SHOW’ – A Fashion Fusion Showcase, where students from the Bachelor of Fashion Design Technology (Honours) programme presented a mesmerizing display of 39 innovative creations that challenged traditional fashion norms. This transformative event at the cutting edge of art, fashion, sustainability, and technology left the audience, comprising fashion enthusiasts, industry professionals, media, and the public, in awe.

With the theme “Terra Incognita”, the Fashion Fusion Showcase ventured into uncharted territories, intertwining fashion and technology to redefine the future of the industry. Organized in academic partnership with KLFW, ‘THE SHOW’ was directed by Ms Pauline Fan and curated by Ms Adriana Nordin Manan, two prominent figures in the Malaysian literary community. The event showcased four unique fashion collection concepts: Organic Geometry, Layered Fashion, Unconventional Fashion, and Genderless Morphe, each pushing the boundaries of creativity and craftsmanship.

Professor Dr Pradeep Nair, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer of Taylor’s University, emphasized the university’s commitment to producing world-class designers through their Fashion Design Technology degree, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and an impact-based approach to sustainability. Prior to the showcase, a Show and Tell Press Segment at Mayamode presented the nation’s first 3D Fashion Pod, enabled through a partnership with Puspamara Sdn Bhd, a leading garment manufacturing company.

The 3D body scanning technology aids precision body measurements, enhances sustainability in fashion production, and complements the National Size Malaysia Campaign, aiming to develop the first national standard sizing system for Malaysian consumers and the garment industry. ‘THE SHOW’ also witnessed interdisciplinary collaborations with the Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design (Honours) students, resulting in Malaysia’s first Metaverse Fashion Show called MAYAmode.

Taylor’s University continues to pave the way in fashion education, empowering students to embrace technological advancements and explore new horizons. ‘THE SHOW’ is a testament to the university’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of fashion leaders, equipping them with the skills to tackle complex problems and shape the future of the fashion industry. The showcase saw collaborations with SUB International Beauty School, ZALORA, OXWHITE, Bombay Sapphire, and Komuniti Tukang Jahit, further elevating the transformative event’s impact.

‘THE SHOW’ – A Fashion Fusion Showcase marks a significant milestone in the fashion industry, encouraging students to challenge norms, innovate, and embrace a future that blends creativity with technology.
