TANAH MERAH, August 10 – The Chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN), Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, has informed that there is already a list of potential candidates for the position of Chief Minister of Kelantan. The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the BN Deputy Chairman, stated that the list will only be announced after Pakatan Harapan (PH)-BN secures victory in the upcoming state election on August 12. We already have a list, but we will announce it when we have enough seats to form the government.

We do not want to preempt the will of God, and the appointment of the Chief Minister requires the decree and consent of the Sultan,” he said at a press conference after officiating the Community Advancement Department (Kemas) Potential Day and Smart Village Program at Plaza Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Golden Triangle (IMT-GT) Bukit Bunga here on Monday. Ahmad Zahid revealed that the list of potential Chief Minister candidates was submitted by the BN Chairman in Kelantan, Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub.

However, he emphasized that their priority is currently focused on their efforts to win at least more than half of the seats in each of the six states. “PH-BN aims to win seats according to the states, for example, Kelantan needs 23 seats to be able to form the government, while Kedah needs 19 seats,” said Ahmad Zahid. Previously, the media reported that PAS Kelantan explained that there is no need to speculate on the potential Chief Minister candidates until the state election is concluded. Deputy Mursyidul Am of PAS, Datuk Ahmad Yakob, stated that the focus is currently on the people and the efforts of the candidates to face the state election.
