SEPANG, November 15 – PETRONAS and Dorna Sports have revealed plans to introduce a new sustainable fuel for the Moto2™ and Moto3™ championships starting the 2024 season. This announcement was made on the inaugural day of the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia 2023. As the official fuel supplier for both championships, PETRONAS is committed to delivering an optimised fuel, PETRONAS Primax Pro-Race M2, formulated with a minimum of 40% non-fossil biofuel.

This initiative aligns with the partners’ joint efforts to move towards a net-zero carbon emission future, supporting Dorna Sports’ goal of powering both championships with 100% sustainable fuels by 2027. PETRONAS Senior General Manager, Group Strategic Relations and Communications, Datin Anita Azrina Abdul Aziz, expressed pride in the evolving partnership with Dorna Sports, emphasizing the significance of sustainable fuel development in navigating the energy transition. This milestone reflects the shared commitment to creating a pathway for a lower carbon future.

Dorna Sports’ CEO, Carmelo Ezpeleta, highlighted the partnership with PETRONAS as a step toward a new global era of zero carbon fuels in motorcycle Grand Prix racing. He emphasized MotoGP’s role in driving innovation and expressed confidence that Moto2™ and Moto3™ would continue pushing boundaries from 2024 onward. The PETRONAS Primax Pro-Race M2 fuel underwent rigorous engine performance testing during the development phase, collaborating with key manufacturers and selected teams within Moto2™, Moto3™, and World Superbike.
