KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 – The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) spearheaded a groundbreaking seminar on the East Coast Rail Link – Economic Accelerator Project (ECRL-EAP) in collaboration with Malaysia Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (MRL) and PLANMalaysia, marking a pivotal moment in Malaysia’s infrastructure and economic development. This initiative, stemming from the 2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MIDA and China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC), underscores a strategic leap forward in enhancing regional connectivity and spurring economic growth.

The seminar, graced by esteemed figures including YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), witnessed over 200 participants from various sectors convening to explore business and investment opportunities presented by the ECRL-EAP. In his keynote address, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz lauded the ECRL as a transformative project poised to elevate Malaysia’s connectivity with Pan-Asia and Eurasia regions, projecting a GDP increase of 3.78% by 2047. With the project’s completion rate standing at an impressive 62.4% as of February 2024, stakeholders anticipate its significant role in driving economic parity and fostering shared prosperity across the nation.
