PUTRAJAYA, April 3 — Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli announced today that a total of 17.65 million individuals, accounting for 58.7 per cent of the population, including household members under 18 years old, have successfully updated their profiles in the PADU system. Rafizi stated that out of this number, 11.55 million citizens, constituting 52.6 per cent of those above 18 years old, have completed registration and profile updates in the Central Database Hub (PADU) system before registration closed on March 31, 2024.

“I express my sincere appreciation to all Malaysians who have taken the initiative to register with PADU,” Rafizi remarked, acknowledging the significant effort made by citizens to participate in the registration process. He also extended gratitude and congratulations to the PADU system development team at the Ministry of Economy, the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the National Digital Department, the Ministry of Communications, and other involved agencies for the successful implementation of PADU.

Rafizi revealed that the Ministry of Economy would present the subsidy retargeting plan to the Cabinet this month, with further announcements on this matter to be made by the government in due course. He assured citizens that those who were unable to register and update their profiles with PADU would still be considered using available administrative data for subsidy retargeting purposes. If necessary, the Ministry of Economy would reopen PADU registration for a brief period after the government determines the form and mechanism of targeted subsidies.
