KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 – PETRONAS, through its subsidiary PETRONAS CCS Solutions Sdn Bhd (PCCSS), has signed a Joint Study Agreement (JSA) with JERA Co., Inc (JERA) to explore the feasibility of the entire carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain. The agreement aims to evaluate the separation and capture of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emitted by JERA in Japan, cross-border transportation, and CO₂ storage in Malaysia. This collaboration marks a significant step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the Asia Pacific region, particularly in Malaysia and Japan.

Nora’in Md Salleh, CEO of PCCSS, highlighted the importance of this partnership in advancing CCS technology. The agreement reflects PETRONAS’ commitment to accelerating the development of CCS hubs in Malaysia and fostering regional collaboration to address climate change. As PETRONAS continues to champion CCS as a key solution for emissions reduction, strategic collaborations like this play a vital role in building a resilient and sustainable future while advancing its NZCE 2050 pathway.
