SHAH ALAM, April 23 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that the decision regarding whether Datuk Seri Najib Razak should serve the remainder of his SRC International Sdn Bhd conviction under house arrest lies with the Pardons Board. Speaking at the 25th anniversary special convention of PKR, Anwar emphasized the importance of respecting the role of the Pardons Board and the decree of the King in such matters.

Acknowledging criticisms and discussions within the unity government, Anwar defended the government’s stance, highlighting the need to uphold the role and authority of the Malay Rulers. He urged political figures to approach issues with wisdom and cautioned against agendas aimed at undermining the government. Anwar’s remarks come in response to recent revelations involving Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s support for Najib’s bid to serve his sentence under house arrest, a proposal that has sparked debate and scrutiny.
