GEORGE TOWN, Aug 3 – Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng hold the press conference today at Komtar said about the postpone in the approving applications for Advertising Permit and Licence Developer (APDL) of developers in Penang. Is that a result of political revenge.
“The Urban Wellbeing Ministry, Housing and Local Government (KPKT) ‘deliberately’ delaying the application of APDL which is to play the politics of revenge. Previously only took two weeks to approve but now has more than around 8 months, the application from the APDL had not been approved yet,” said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
“KPKT actions not only cause problems to the private developer (Penang) but also prevent the people of Penang to buy a house. The Housing projects are involving billions of dollars and the number of properties are represents a loss to the private developers,” he said.
“KPKT had been fail to approve the request from APDL with the big impact on buyers of affordable housing. This action is a form of cruelty to home buyers in Penang. Besides that, I also had personally wrote to KPKT on June 24 about the explanation of the delay in approving the applications on the apply APDL to housing developers in Penang but there were no response,” said YB Jagdeep Singh.
“From August 2014 until February 2015, I was informed that there were 18 applications from 48 applications from developers in Penang were approved, while the remaining 30 are still being processed. Why it need to take to long to approve the slow applications, What is the reason of KPKT, Is that because of the State Government did not approve housing projects of a Federal agency ?, “asked Jagdeep.
“State Government have fair reasons to not approve the housing projects as described in the letter dated on 30 July 2015 from the Jabatan Perancang Bandar dan Desa (JPBD). Among the information submitted was incomplete and could not be discussed, the sales price exceeding RM250,000 for low-cost housing and low and medium cost of the proposed project is not approved by the State Planning Committee,” he added.
“The move of KPKT was unjustified. Why should punish us (private developers) on this way. Although there is a dispute between the State Government and the Federal Government, why Involving us in politics like this. Stop play politics on development,” said Director of Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia Jerry Chan.
